U19 Naugatuck Knights win at Seaside Classic Tourny - July 12-13, 2008

The U-19 Knights won their bracket at the Seaside Classic Tournament, in Kingston, RI, on the University of Rhode Island campus.
The Knights were undefeated in their division:against Mahopac Sports Association (1-0); Coventry Kent (3-2); South Central Y.S.C. Roughriders (2-0); and Sachems FC 3-2.
The Knights took the distinction of winning the Sportsmanship Award for their division. A sportsmanship award is given to one team in each division. Referees’ evaluations will determine the team in each division that plays most fairly and best demonstrates the ability to be a good loser and/or a graceful winner (both on and off the field). Players, fans and coaches of each participating team will be judged by the referee of each game played.

U19 Naugatuck Knights Win CJSA Connecticut Cup - Spring 2008

Naugatuck Youth Soccer is pleased to announce that their U-19 boys team, Naugatuck Knights, defeated Norwalk United to win the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) Connecticut Cup.
It was a long afternoon for the Knights and their parents. The 3:00PM CJSA U19 boys Connecticut Cup Championship game in Simsbury, CT was delayed due to rain & lightning. The game finally kicked-off at 5:00PM and was worth the wait. The back and forth action and quest for the championship did not disappoint the spectators. The game went down to wire, with regulation play ending in a 2-2 tie. The Knights scored early in overtime, but Norwalk benefited by an unlucky own goal in the second half of overtime, keeping it a tie game 3-3. The winner was decided in an exciting penalty kick round where Naugatuck took top honors.
The core group of the Knights has played together for nearly 10 years. This is their first Connecticut Cup championship, although they have made it to the finals and semi-finals in past years. In addition, the Knights took the won their league in the CJSA South Central District.
The Naugatuck Knights are Aaron Bottinick, Jony Fernandez, Jon Creem, Hien Tran, James Canale, Adam DiCicco. Mike Smith, Travis Neves, Cristian Fernandez, Adam Finlay, Bryan Phillips, Matt Taveres.
